What People Say about BCNHThank you for the thorough training I was asked to speak on a morning discussion show on BBC Radio Derby today. The talk was about how difficult it is to lose weight after 40, why that was and what people could do about it. So I talked about what we’ve learnt so well at BCNH – insulin and cortisol. The feedback I got from the public was fantastic, with people ringing the show saying they now finally understood. One caller was so thrilled that she asked the Radio station to repeat the show. So thank you for that training!! Puala N (Graduate) Thank you BCNHThank you to the BCNH for the very detailed exam feedback by the way. I've never seen exam feedback done like that before and neither has anyone else who I've told about it, it's really helpful to get such precise feedback.C Higson - Yr 1 student This course overcame my science phobia!'It was so thoroughly and carefully taught that I realised that I could "do science" after all. Attention to detail was good and it gave me a thorough grounding in biology as well as confidence in my knowledge. Tutor was excellent - human, supportive and made it seem easy.'SFC student Flexible study'I chose to study nutrition at BCNH because of the degree of flexibility offered by the course (I am a part-time/distance combination student) and because of the serious approach taken to educating our clients about nutrition and the effect food has on their body, right down to every chemical reaction!'Ellen S (BSc student) Interesting and well organised'I have found the course extremely interesting and well organised. What has struck me most is how passionate everyone is about nutrition, which I find very motivating.'Kate O (Graduate) A great college'Just to say that the college is great; it has opened a new world for me and I enjoy it very much.'Morana K. A. (Year 3 Diploma) High standards'I am very pleased with having chosen the BCNH course to study nutrition. The lecturers are highly qualified and their knowledge and enthusiasm is contagious. They have such passion towards nutrition, which in my opinion is a recipe for a successful college. This only confirms that I have come to the right college. I am passionate about nutrition and as being constantly encouraged and taught by the best nutritional therapists in the country I will definitely be superior to other college students in the UK. The standard is very high for modules and we are required to learn nutrition to the intricate theory yet not forgetting the important practical approach, which exceeds the rest of the UK nutritional colleges. I can warmly recommend BCNH as the best college in the country, which prepares you to tackle the world of nutrition with the best possible qualifications.'Jatta T (Year 3 DL Student) A thorough research backed course'Food is medicine. I believed in that statement and set out to find a distance learning course that can help me treat my clients holistically. It's not easy at all. It’s a commitment but I truly believe it is much more than I expected. You are given marks ONLY if you can back up your statements... a great discipline to have in practice with real patients. They provide support throughout the year and even though I am far, and feel alone in my studies, they encourage me to contact them more, you never feel like you are badgering them. The course is run by alumni of BCNH who can call upon real experiences of when they were doing it themselves. They are passionate and their ethics are in teaching us how to educate our clients which encourages them to comply in the treatment recommended. Happy to have the summer off but looking forward to all the information I will be acquiring in year 2.' Dr S Verma Level 1 (July 09) Excellent SFC course'The Science Foundation Course has been excellent and both lecturers excellently skilled at delivering their material. I have kept my mp3's of the lessons on my mobile all year so that I can go over them again and again or for just 20 minutes here and there! The notes themselves have been very informative and to "conquer" a knowledge of chemistry has been a true adventure. I have immersed myself in this world for the last 10 months and can't believe this first year has finished. Living in Budapest was no problem as everything was emailed and sent on time or in advance! Highly recommended.'Nickie Hoare (SFC student 08-09) Budapest Much appreciated'I want to say how much I appreciate the excellent training you provide at BCNH, and all your hard work which will benefit so many. I feel well-prepared for a nutrition career thanks to the thorough preparation you train us to make. I hope BCNH continues to thrive.'Sally Beare (Graduate 2007) Highly motivated students'I have been lecturing for six years at BCNH and I am definitely impressed by the very high motivation of both the students and the staff. I believe that they have understood how important proper management of nutritional and micro nutritional tools can be for general health and well-being. I am especially glad to collaborate with BCNH as it expressly emphasises providing a strict scientific background to all matters taught to students, an attitude still too rare in today's world of nutrition.'Dr Georges Mouton, Lecturer and Medical Doctor A college with a strong reputation'I chose BCNH because it has a very strong reputation for teaching nutrition thoroughly which is well founded. Each topic is covered in great breadth and depth which leaves me feeling confident in the knowledge I am gaining. The enthusiasm and commitment of the lecturers and BCNH staff is contagious and students are treated with respect, flexibility and individuality. The course is intellectually demanding and definitely needs personal commitment, but you really feel the staff want you to do well and are keen to offer support. This is important as most of the students lead busy lives trying to juggle a part time degree with career, family and personal commitments.'Lynne S (BSc student) Challenging and rewarding'If you are looking for an interesting and challenging course in Nutrition, look no further! I am a first year student at BCNH after researching other colleges/ places of study. The course is scientifically and medically based - keeping you informed of the latest research and findings. It also goes 'back to basics' giving you the all important background knowledge you require. Highly recommended!'Level 1 student Great For People Serious About Nutrition'The course content is fascinating, and I really look forward to the lectures. They are given by experienced practitioners, and not only do they teach the subjects thoroughly, but they are able to relate them to real-life experience. I'm really enjoying learning and can't wait to start practising myself.'Level 1 student Studying at BCNH is interesting and flexible'The BCNH modules are fascinating. They tend to be taught by an expert in the field, rather than by a more general lecturer. e.g. the muskuloskeletal module was taught by an osteopath and the gastro-intestinal module was taught by a surgeon. This makes each lecture weekend quite unique and gives the students an opportunity to ask an expert questions and hear about the lecturers own clinical experience. The modules are well structured. There is a lecture weekend which you can either attend or catch up on at home by yourself as BCNH records all lectures and sends you a CD of the lecture plus copies of all lecture notes. There is then a theory seminar to make sure we understood the lectures and also a clinical seminar where we go through a case study. You are sent a workbook to do for each module which is good for making sure you understand the module. When the workbook is completed, BCNH send you model answers which you can use for exam revision. There is usually an assignment for each module too. In addition we have to complete "fact sheets". So far this year we have done 'psoriasis', 'Food allergies and intolerances' and 'Gout'. This builds up a portfolio which we will then have to hand out to clients when they visit us in practice. The Greenwich modules are all on-line or you can attend if you want to. The weekly workload varies on those. They are not about nutrition but about other complementary therapies or information we need to know such as statistics for healthcare professionals. Most Greenwich modules are 100% assessed which means there is no exam. The BCNH course is tough and demanding. It is hard work but then it has to be because when we are seeing clients we really need to understand what we are doing. The emphasis is on science and thoroughly understanding the mechanism behind everything. It is possible to complete this degree while also doing a full-time job which is great. The other students come from different fields and walks of life which makes it even more interesting and everyone works well together. I have made some good friends on this course.' Level 2 student A very thorough course'I'm thoroughly enjoying the BCNH course, it's quite amazing how much there is to know around nutrition and how vital this area is for health. Although there is a lot of work to do, the college does provide excellent learning materials that makes the workload more manageable. I am really pleased I decided to do this course as I feel it is very thorough, especially compared to some of the others I investigated. I can't wait to give up my day job!'Isabella M (BSc student) A fascinating course'So far I have found the BCNH nutrition courses fascinating and in-depth. Before deciding to do this course I researched into other colleges and thought that this course sounded the most thorough. As a correspondence student I have found the support excellent and the principal, office manager and tutors are extremely friendly and couldn't be more helpful or encouraging. The science foundation course was invaluable as I didn't have chemistry or biology A-level and it was great that I could study that via correspondence as well.'Áine (Year 3 DL Student) Thank-you!'I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the hard work and unrelenting commitment you put into your college. It has been a tough and challenging course. I have learnt so much and am excited about using this knowledge to help improve people’s quality of life. It is a privilege to receive a diploma from BCNH. You truly are having a world-wide impact on people’s understanding of nutritional medicine. Thank-you!'Jackie - Graduate 2007 (South Africa) Highly recommended'I would recommend the college to anyone interested in studying nutrition and building a career in this field. The lectures have been excellent and have enabled me to obtain a wealth of knowledge and most importantly I feel that I have had support from the college all of the way!'Petrina G (Graduate) A challenging course'BCNH is a great college - the course really is challenging and if you want an exciting career, this is the place to start.'Sarah L (Graduate) A fascinating course'This course is absolutely fascinating and I really enjoy all the lectures. The tutors are friendly and adept at explaining everything in such a way that is not only easy to understand but also it's interesting! I'm already recommending it to my friends.'Julie D (BSc student) About Your Graduate'Breda, I wanted to thank you for sending me such a great Nutritionist - Justine Bold. She is very good and highly professional, a reflection of your training! I am hearing such great things about your college.'Claire Gimmack, Director The C.H.A.I.M. Centre, London |
