ABOUT BCNH COURSES

We believe that the best possible healing results can only be achieved by a thorough understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology and biochemistry. These form the basis of BCNH studies.

Nutritional Therapy Courses offered by BCNH

At BCNH we offer many types of nutritional therapy courses for UK and international students alike: -
BCNH Pre-Degree Diploma in Nutritional Therapy WITHOUT clinical practice

BCNH Pre-degree Diploma in Nutritional Therapy WITH clinical practice

Following successful completion of the BCNH Nutritional Therapy Diploma (without clinical practice), students may apply to join the BSc Hons Professional Practice  in Health and Social care (Nutritional Health) programme and transfer relevant credits gained from their studies as Associate Students, into the programme.

    Methods of Study:

    Distance Learning (DL)
    Attendance
    Combination (DL and attendance)

    Study Time

We estimate that BCNH students require 16 - 20 hours per week of course related study. This includes both class sessions and independent learning (reviewing lecture notes, completing assignments, literature searching, web searching, reading related literature, etc.)

    Accessing College Material

All students are able to download lecture & seminar notes, timetables, reading lists, module outcomes, course assignments, research papers, live audio recordings etc. from a secure, password protected BCNH website. This is particularly helpful to distance learning students and students who may have to miss a lecture or a seminar.

    BCNH Lectures

Our lectures are well structured, comprehensive and informative. We teach cutting edge information on the latest published research and we encourage students to participate in the questions and answers sessions.

BCNH lectures take place ONE weekend a month; Saturdays and Sundays (10am - 5pm). Occasional evening lectures are also weekdays (6pm - 9pm).

    BCNH Seminars

Each module consists of a 3-hour clinical seminar where students work in groups and analyse up to 4 BCNH-set case studies related to the topic, incorporating diet, lifestyle, medications, nutrients deficiencies, biochemical & functional tests, the latest research, etc. Students prepare nutritional and lifestyle recommendations for each case study and their recommendations are then discussed in the group. Model answers, including references and information on the latest research are then emailed to the attending students.

Distance learning students, not attending the seminars, must complete one of the case studies (their choice) discussed during the clinical seminar, at home, and email model answers to the college. Model answers for all the case studies discussed in the seminar are then emailed to the students. Credits will not be issued until all course work, including clinical work is complete.

    Location

BCNH lectures and seminars are held in the heart of central London, at University College London (UCL), which is easily accessible by all means of transport.

    NTC Accreditation & Registration

We are currently working towards Stage 2 accreditation of our courses
by the Nutritional Therapy Council, which was founded in 1999 to act as
a regulatory body for the profession of Nutritional Therapy. Our course curriculum is based on the Nutritional Therapy Council’s (NTC) National Occupational Standards and we aim to complete the accreditation process in the very near future.

Please note that upon completion of registration, acceptance onto the NTC (Nutritional Therapy Council) register is at the discretion of NTC, not just successful completion of the course.

NTC Accreditation handbook is available on the NTC website:-
