Microflora and obesity – is there a connection?

It is no news that the ever rising trend in obesity is not only placing a huge burden on healthcare systems but also poses a significant burden for the individual as obesity is linked to increased risk of certain cancers, cardiovascular diseases and musculoskeletal conditions for example. Therefore, the scientific community places great efforts into understanding the complex factors that influence our food choices which ultimately play a role in the development of obesity1.
